Al Aseel

Al Aseel is located in Greenacre, about 30 mins from Sydney CBD. It's a small restaurant, serving authentic Lebanese cuisine. The atmosphere of the restaurant is simple, yet warm and cozy. On top of each table, there was a huge pile of the freshest Lebanese bread, sealed loosely in a plastic bag. After being seated, we're immediately being offered a plate of complimentary pickles, consist of olives, chillies, cucumber, radish and slices of fresh tomatoes. We also help our self to a range of juice and drink at the fridge near the counter.

Complimentary Pickles

The laminated booklet of menu, consist of huge range of Lebanese dishes, range from felafel, kofta, samboski to various salads such as the famous tabouli, and a range of dipping sauce such as hummus, babaghanous....Basically, the mains was divided into 3 main section : the meat section, the seafood section, and the wrap section.
The husband, immediately flip to the meat section, and ordered himself a small mix plate platter.
I have a strong urge to try their wrap despite the huge pile of bread infront of me, so i order the chicken kebab.

Chicken kebab: Spiced chicken skewers, tabouli and pickles, wrap in Lebanese bread, lightly toasted. ( $7.50 )

The chicken kebab came first, and it was such a long and huge wrap. I cut it in half and share it with husband. It was nice, the chicken is juicy and plum, very different from the kebab that you usually get from the food court. Although, i do regret to ask them to put chili sauce as i like my kebab hot.

Small Meat Platter ($18)

The small meat platter is not small at all, it includes the whole shebang: tabouli, hummus, babaghanous, and felafel. He order the mix plate that consist of chicken, lamb and beef skewer kebab. The tabouli is fresh and lively, both the sauce are top with diced tomatoes, drizzle of olive oil and some sprinkle of paprika. I particularly love the rich and creamy babaghanous, while my husband prefers the hummus. The small bowl of white, thick garlic sauce ( toum ) make a very nice accompany to the oval shape felafel, which are crips on the outside and soft on the inside. I think it's the best felafel around. All the meat are smoky, yet tender and juicy. In under 30 mins, all the sauce and meat are mop up with the bread and into our now bulging belly. There are still a lot of bread left, and upon enquiry, we're allowed to bring the complimentary bread home! We're truly satisfied and left the restaurant without hurting our wallet :)
